For more information, please refer to our terms and conditions.</h6> <hr /> <h4 id="overview">Overview</h4> <p>This course was previouly named <strong>Compelling Communuication.</strong></p> <p>Almost everything we do in the workplace involves communication and our overall job effectiveness is strongly influenced by how well we communicate. In the APS, we require the ability to present information clearly, concisely and in a compelling manner, going to the heart of the issue with speed and clarity.</p> <p>Effective communication is about being able to deliver strategic and operational information quickly and clearly to a specific target audience or individual. As such, effective communication takes into account the needs and characteristics of the specific audience.</p> <h4 id="participant-benefits">Participant benefits</h4> <p>On completion of this course, you will be able to:-</p> <ul> <li>define the factors affecting communication</li> <li>draft appropriate forms of written communications for APS and government leaders (e.g. SES)</li> <li>explain the factors involved in successful spoken word communication across a number of contexts/situations</li> <li>draft relevant, timely correspondence in a clear, understandable language that addresses the needs of the public/communities.</li> </ul> <h4 id="inclusions">Inclusions</h4> <p><strong>Phase 1 –</strong> Self-directed readings and activities (approx. 1.5 hours)</p> <p><strong>Phase 2 -</strong></p> <p><em>Stage 1:</em> Virtual interactive session ( 2 hours )</p> <p><em>Stage 2:</em> Self-directed readings and activities (approx. 1.5 hour)</p> <p><em>Stage 3:</em> Virtual interactive session (2 hours)</p> <p><em>Stage 4:</em> Self-directed readings and activities (approx. 1.5 hour)</p> <p><em>Stage 5:</em> Virtual interactive session ( 2.5 hours )</p> <p><strong>Phase 3 –</strong> Self-directed activities to apply in the workplace</p> <hr /> <h5 id="this-program-aligns-with-the-working-in-government-craft-at-the-foundation-level">This program aligns with the Working in Government Craft at the Foundation level</h5> <p>Working in Government is a willingness to serve and the ability to apply a deep understanding of the context in which the APS operates.
