This MasterCraft topic is Strategic and Political Acumen.</p> <p>This Strategic and Political Acumen masterclass discusses the importance for public service managers of strategic and political acumen when Working in Government. The development of strategic and political acumen is an important, yet often under- appreciated skill in the toolkit of Public Service practitioners.</p> <h4 id="participant-benefits">Participant benefits</h4> <p>This MasterCraft session will consider the external strategic environment and how social, economic, environmental and technological factors help shape international influences and national responses, along with community needs.</p> <p>It will also consider the political environment and the impact of government priorities, ministerial preferences, the role of ministerial advisors and the impact of the media and social media combine to influence the political platforms, government policy within the electoral cycle.</p> <p>Finally, the session will help you develop your professional ‘antennae’ to understand the strategic and political environments you operate within and how you can use your knowledge and awareness to enhance agency mission and capabilities consistent with your professional ethics and values.</p> <h4 id="inclusions">Inclusions</h4> <ul> <li>1 x 1.5 hour facilitated virtual classroom session (see 'session details' in the below schedule for specific dates and start/finish times)</li> </ul> <hr /> <h5 id="this-program-aligns-with-the-working-in-government-craft-at-the-practitioner-level">This program aligns with the Working in Government Craft at the Practitioner Level.</h5> <p>Working in Government is a willingness to serve and the ability to apply a deep understanding of the context in which the APS operates.
