Agencies have access to different virtual classroom tools. Prior to enrolling on a course, it is suggested that you check if you have any restrictions using the tools. If you would like to complete the course, but cannot access the virtual classroom tool on your work device or network, we recommend you use a personal device such as a laptop or computer with a strong network to support you at home or other offsite location. For more information, please refer to our terms and conditions.</h6> <hr /> <h4 id="overview">Overview</h4> <p>Designed for newly promoted or long term acting SES from within the APS, and newly recruited SES from outside the APS.</p> <ul> <li>Enables SES members to ‘step up’ to the higher strategic accountabilities of the role, ‘step out’ to take a broader systems view and engage more effectively with a diverse stakeholder group, and ‘step forward’ to develop more capable teams.</li> <li>Provides practical tips, techniques and strategies to survive and thrive as a senior executive in the APS.</li> <li>Complements agency-specific orientation and on-boarding programs.</li> <li>Enables networking opportunities and provides a breadth of perspective to support the ability to work across the APS.</li> </ul> <h4 id="participant-benefits">Participant benefits</h4> <p>On completion of all elements of this program, you will have the skills to:</p> <ul> <li>effectively and efficiently transition into your SES role, as part of a broader SES cohort charged with providing “APS-wide strategic leadership of the highest quality that contributes to an effective and cohesive APS” (section 35 (2), Public Service Act 1999)</li> <li>identify and build the critical capabilities needed to survive and thrive in your senior executive role.</li> </ul> <h4 id="inclusions">Inclusions</h4> <p>This program spans 3 months and includes:</p> <ul> <li>5 virtual workshops</li> <li>self-paced application tasks in between workshops</li> <li>opportunities to apply new learning throughout the duration of the program, as it is designed to have immediate relevance to the workplace.</li> </ul> <hr /> <h5 id="this-program-aligns-with-the-leadership-management-craft-at-the-lead-level">This program aligns with the Leadership &amp; Management Craft at the Lead Level.</h5> <p>Leadership &amp; Management is driving organisational productivity and performance through inspiration towards a common goal.
